My giant Cheetos bag is probably one of my favorite pieces, though actually making it was a harrowing saga. I conceived the idea of making a giant Cheetos bag during the summer of 2015 while interning at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum; something about priceless art makes me want to create giant garbage, apparently. The actual logistics of silkscreening a three foot by four foot Cheetos bag onto reflective mylar proved...difficult. But, 36 hours, eight layers and approximately seven gallons of ink later a bag was born. In terms of inspiration, I've always been interested in culture, specifically the contrast between high and low and hyper-recognizable brands. In the case of the Cheetos bag I the idea of hand-crafting something so manufactured was interesting to me.
